We have had a lot of emails asking us where we acquired this list of IP's etc. The answer is a simple one, but is one that will shock a lot of users and people who have trust within the JLU. The IP database is extracted from the JLU's "secure" PhantomZone. This is solid proof that the JLU are harvesting your IP's and linking them to your avatar for whatever use they see fit. This is an invasion of privacy and a severe violation of the ToS, something in which lead to mass bans for Emerald creators and is frowned upon majorly by Linden Lab. If you see your name on this list then you should be worried, but to avoid further concern, you should block media to the KryptonRadio.com domain and the IP of the server which it is held on, as within the server is Kryptonians.net which is also used for various things.
You have been warned.
Surprising?
ReplyDeleteNot really, the JLU has always been shady-acting and super-secretive. They've also had a history of supporting IP harvesting tools within Second Life.
Thanks guys, for exposing this self-proclaim dictatorship.
Let me see if I understand this correctly, you say the list of IP's listed here, came from JLU's PhantomZone?
ReplyDeleteHow was this list acquired, exactly?
Can you show any conclusive proof that the PhantomZone system uses any sort of parcel media?
You are aware, I presume, that parcel media is the only automated means for such a system, shared media cannot do it, nor can parcel audio.
If this was completely the case you would be right but, you may need to read the ToS regarding disclosure again. Even if they were collecting you see, it's not a violation unless alts are disclosed in world.
Parcel media is not the only means of gathering IP's, Viewer 2.0 has an exploit which allows you to gather the IP of users without having land rights. You have 2 options with this list of IP's and the fact it came from the JLU PhantomZone.
ReplyDeleteYou can either:-
A) Be outraged (lol y u mad tho)
B) Disregard it because you suck cocks
The choice is yours, you can phone a friend if you wish, bro.
The exploit you refer to in V2 is shared media, and again while you can obtain IP addresses that way you cannot in an automated way connect them with this sort of precision with usernames.
ReplyDeleteI have asked you simple questions and you have responded with insults. I simply would like to see the proof of the lists origins. Surely that is not a difficult or unreasonable request.
I beg to differ, being somewhat of an expert in LSL, I know this is possible as I have tried and tested it myself. As for responding with insults...we do not try to be nice people, we aren't, just look at the type of things we post. So if you were coming looking for some form of debate rather than me telling you to go fuck yourself, then you came to the wrong place, bro.
ReplyDeleteYou sure as hell can connect IPs to usernames using shared media and parcel audio, don't be a fool.
ReplyDeleteIt just takes a few more tries to get an accurate data point, but you still know exactly who entered a parcel and the time a person connected to a server. It's simple statistics.
